Insurance Quote & Buy
A customer quote-and-buy journey for a fictional insurer. Customers describe the risk, compare three plans priced live, and either buy instantly or — when a rule is triggered — send the quote to an underwriter, whose decision appears back in their account.

The short version
Watch the workflow before you open it.
Recorded from the running prototype — every screen in the film is one you can click through yourself.
01 · The problem
Quotes that stall between the website and the underwriter.
Many insurers still quote anything non-standard by email: the customer fills a form, an agent re-keys it, an underwriter replies days later, and the customer has moved on.
The prototype explores one journey where clean risks are priced and bound immediately, and only genuinely unusual ones wait for a person — with the customer able to see where their quote stands.
02 · Use cases
Selling cover online without the email back-and-forth
Fits any insurer or broker that wants clean risks bought instantly and unusual ones routed to a person — with the customer kept informed.
- 01Direct online sales for retail cover
- Who
- A general insurer selling motor and health cover direct.
- The situation
- Online forms end in “we’ll call you back”, and many customers never hear back in time.
- What changes
- Customers see a price as they answer, compare plans and buy in one sitting; only rule-triggered quotes wait for an underwriter.
- 02Broker or agent quoting tool
- Who
- Brokers and tied agents quoting on the customer’s behalf.
- The situation
- Agents phone the insurer for every non-standard case and re-key details into several systems.
- What changes
- The same journey works as an agent tool: instant prices for clean risks, and a clear referral reason when one needs review.
- 03Embedded insurance at a partner
- Who
- Car dealers, banks or marketplaces offering cover at checkout.
- The situation
- The partner wants to offer insurance without sending customers away to a different site.
- What changes
- A short, branded quote step that prices from details the partner already has, with binding handled by the insurer.
- 04SME commercial property
- Who
- Small businesses insuring a shop, warehouse or office.
- The situation
- Commercial quotes need construction class, occupancy and values — usually collected over several emails.
- What changes
- Structured questions price the risk immediately, and combustible construction or large values go straight to an underwriter with the reason attached.
Fits
- General insurers
- Brokers and agencies
- Bancassurance and embedded partners
- Takaful and sharia products
Extends to
- Renewals with re-pricing
- Add-ons and riders
- Promo codes and partner pricing
- Quote follow-up reminders
A production build connects to
- The core policy administration system
- A payment gateway
- Vehicle and identity data checks
- E-policy documents and e-signature
03 · Functional highlights
What you can try
- Live premium breakdown
- Every loading and add-on is itemised — vehicle age, region, smoker, family discount, flood zone.
- Three plans side by side
- Essential, Plus and Premier priced from the same inputs, with what each one adds.
- Rules-based referral
- Vehicle age, value, pre-existing conditions, combustible construction and accumulation risks route to an underwriter.
- Bind and issue
- Approved quotes become a policy with a number, dates and cover — ready to claim against.

05 · Simulated versus live
What the demo simulates, and what a build would connect
| Capability | In the concept demo | In a production build |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Illustrative rate tables | Your actuarial rating engine |
| Payment | Simulated | Payment gateway and virtual accounts |
| Policy issue | Number generated in the browser | Core policy administration system |
| Documents | Not collected | Secure upload and e-signature |
06 · Prototype limitations
What this demonstration is — and is not
- The insurer and every customer, policy and claim are fictional.
- Rates, rules and fraud weights are illustrative — not real tariffs or regulatory pricing.
- Data is stored in this browser only; no documents, medical or payment data are collected.
- No core policy system, payment gateway, workshop network or regulator portal is connected.

- 1Quote a car with the defaults — it can be bought instantly.
- 2Change the year to make it 13 years old: the same journey now refers.
- 3Open Underwriting from the demo bar and approve with a loading.
- 4Back in My policies, buy the approved quote and see the e-policy.
